A Nighttime Ritual is Important for our Health
Sleep Care is the New Self Care

The end of the day is arguably the most important part of the day for our overall health. Therefore, establishing a nighttime ritual is part of creating beneficial somniferous habits. According to the Sleep Foundation ( a good night’s rest is just as important as our diet and getting regular exercise.

The same organization touts setting up a bedtime routine that can lead to deeper, more nourishing sleep without the use of sleep aids. Stretching or yoga, a warm bath, or reading a book can all lead toward a more restful night. Likewise, limiting use of technology in the evening will also aid in a good nighttime routine.

One way to help facilitate a nighttime routine is to introduce products that contain lavender essential oils.

Lavender as part of a nighttime ritual
Lavender is Sleep Inducing

Why lavender? Lavender is a plant that has been known for centuries to help in relaxation and reduction of anxiety, among other benefits. According to a 2018 study published in Frontiers of Behavioral Neuroscience, a component of lavender oil called Linalool did indeed reduce anxious behavior. (

Sítrónu offers two fragrances that contain lavender essential oil - our rosemary lavender combo called RósmarínLavender and our lavender lemon infusion called Gæska (which means kindness in Icelandic).

Whether it's for your home or your inn or small hotel, our lavender products can set the tone for bedtime. We have several, including body oil, body lotion, body butter, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. I can personally attest that our soaking bath salts in RósmarínLavender is the most soothing way to end the day. The bonus - the fragrance wafts out of the bathroom throughout the house inducing a calming effect on everyone else! Guests and your family will thank you for the little touch of thoughtfulness as they head toward slumber.

Stop by Sítrónu and add a few lavender fragranced products to your bedtime ritual.
